Art is such a great healer. Art is used with Alzheimer’s sufferers and I used it to help me deal with the demise of my father’s and our family’s journey into Alzheimer’s. In “Our creative journey through A.D.” published in Spring 2024 you will see how I used working with ceramics to help me understand and cope with this cruel disease. Not being near my family also meant I was isolated. Working together with my mother on this project helped me to deal with the extended grief of watching my father change.

I worked with porcelain paper clay because of the delicate nature and the ability to make it thin.
Being a full time Art teacher in England meant I didn’t have lots of time but by having this project it helped me to focus on some positives and to give myself time to learn to accept, understand and grow from understanding what my father was going through.
