EXCITEMENT FIZZLES

Lara had her plane ticket and arrangements were made with her sister to meet her at the airport and bring her to my house in East Texas. She lives in England and comes once a year. So double excitement having Lara here for two weeks and our book launch.

Our book, Our Creative Journey Through A.D., was finally complete and was already online for sale beginning  April 15, 2024. Lara and I were able to get forty early copies since a book launch was scheduled for April 6. We had spent the last few months getting ready—Lara did the computer website and social media. I made the arrangements for the launch. We posted about our book online.

The launch was held on the sixth at the assisted living /memory care facility where my husband had been. The facility staff helped with advertising and were so gracious to us, besides serving punch and cookies at the event. Earlier that week a reporter from our local paper interviewed us about the book and wrote a piece about the book and launch. Lara had prepared a PowerPoint, and I wrote the script. The event went well, and we sold some copies of the book.

Then there was a snag. We found two misspelled words. I don’t know how we overlooked them. The errors needed to be corrected before mass printing, and there have been some printing problems. Every day I checked online to see if distribution had started.

So, our energy and the excitement of the launch fizzled. Now we need to build momentum again. Our Creative Journey Through A.D. is now in print and available online. We will send out photos and messages again. We hope our experiences with our loved one and Alzheimer’s Disease will help others. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and our website.
